Terms of Service
Effective 28 August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Osceo, an independent project. By creating an account or using the service you accept them.
Osceo is not open yet. Today this site does one thing: it takes an email address for a waitlist. There are no accounts, no uploads, and nothing to pay for. These terms are published in advance so you can see what you would be agreeing to, and they take effect when the service opens.
1. You must be 18 or over
Osceo is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or upload anything. We collect your date of birth at signup. If we find that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it and everything in it.
2. What Osceo is
You upload four photographs taken to a specified protocol: front, side, front with the feet together, and back. Software identifies anatomical landmarks in those photographs and computes more than eighty separate angles, ratios, and alignment values covering the whole body, from head position through the neck, shoulders, arms, trunk, hips, and legs down to the ankles and feet.
The report is intended to be thorough rather than a handful of headline numbers. It covers posture and alignment, left to right symmetry, and proportion, and every value is set against reference ranges. If you scan again later, the report also describes what has changed since last time, so the picture builds up over months rather than resetting each visit.
Values are expressed as angles and ratios rather than absolute measurements in centimetres, because a photograph carries no scale reference. Angles and ratios do not depend on scale, which is precisely what makes them comparable from one scan to the next. The one exception is body fat, which is calculated from tape measurements you take and report yourself, and which is labelled as self reported throughout.
A full report also includes suggested exercises, selected automatically from your own measurements. Only findings large enough to be distinguished from our measurement error produce suggestions, and only for the things movement can actually change. Your proportions never do, because no amount of exercise changes the length of a bone. What this is and is not is set out in section 11.
3. Where the numbers come from
Every measurement in your report falls into one of two kinds, and each is labelled as such next to the number. This distinction is the honest part of the product, so it is worth reading.
- Referenced. Published, peer reviewed research says what is typical for this measurement. The report can tell you roughly where you sit relative to other people, and it names the source.
- Tracked. The measurement is precise and repeatable, but no published research establishes what is typical. The report can tell you what changed since your last scan. It will not tell you whether your starting value was good or bad, because nobody knows.
Most measurements are tracked rather than referenced. That is a fact about the state of the published evidence on human posture and proportion, not a shortcut on our part, and pretending otherwise would mean inventing norms that do not exist.
Where evidence exists but is thin or contested, the metric is labelled low confidence and the report says so rather than presenting a number with more authority than it has earned. Aesthetic conventions that are not scientific findings are labelled as conventions, never as norms.
This also means the report will tell you when a result is unremarkable. Mild asymmetry is common in healthy people, and a value sitting outside a reference range is not on its own evidence that anything is wrong with you.
Every measurement also carries a threshold below which a change between two scans is treated as measurement noise rather than progress. If your result moves by less than that, the report will say nothing changed.
4. The Osceo Score
Every measurement is scored out of 10. Those roll up into a symmetry score, an alignment score and a proportion score, and those three into a single overall score out of 10.
The scores do not all mean the same thing, and the report always tells you which kind you are looking at.
- Symmetry and alignment are measured against references that exist independently of anyone's opinion: an exact left-right match, and a plumb line. Nobody decided these.
- A few proportions are measured against published research into what people find attractive. That is a finding about preference, not about health, and it is not a target you need to meet.
- The remaining proportions are measured against how common they are in a measured population. A lower score there means less common, not worse. Proportions are how you are built. A long torso is not a defect, and nothing in your report will treat it as one.
Body composition is scored separately and is not part of your overall score. It comes from measurements you take yourself with a tape rather than from your photographs, it carries a larger error, and folding a body fat figure into a posture score would turn a posture score into a judgement about weight.
The score is a personal baseline to track, not a position in a ranking. We do not tell you how you compare to other users, and we will not until that comparison can be calculated from real data rather than estimated. A change in your score smaller than the measurement error is reported as no change.
5. Your account
Keep your login secure and do not share your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
6. The photographs you upload
By uploading, you confirm all of the following.
- The photographs are of you. Do not upload photographs of another person, for any reason, with or without their permission.
- The photographs contain no one under 18, in any part of the frame.
- The photographs are not sexual in nature. The protocol calls for fitted athletic clothing. Nudity and sexual content are not permitted and will result in the account being closed.
- You have the right to upload them.
7. Who owns what
Your photographs remain yours. You give us a limited licence to store and process them for the sole purpose of producing your analysis and showing it back to you. That licence ends when you delete the photographs. We will not use your photographs for marketing, for public display, or to train machine learning models. If we ever want to use anything of yours for a purpose beyond producing your report, we will ask for your explicit written permission first.
The reports, reference data, and the software itself remain ours.
8. Payment and subscriptions
- Creating an account and running a scan is free. A free scan computes every measurement and shows you a selection of them with context.
- A full report, meaning every measurement, the published comparisons with their sources, the written analysis and a PDF, costs a one time fee shown to you before you pay.
- A later scan compared against your baseline can be bought on its own, without a subscription.
- A body composition estimate, calculated from tape measurements you take yourself, can be added to any purchase for a separate fee, and is included with a subscription at no extra cost.
- Ongoing tracking, meaning unlimited repeat scans, progress comparisons and full history, is a subscription available yearly or monthly. The price is shown before you pay.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are handled by Stripe.
- We may change prices. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days notice before a change affects them.
9. Refunds
- If we cannot measure you, you do not pay. Every scan is checked against the photo protocol before anything is charged. If your photographs cannot produce a reliable measurement, we tell you what went wrong and you are not charged for that scan.
- One time purchases: full refund within 14 days, no questions asked. Just email us. Limit one refunded purchase per customer.
- Subscriptions: cancel at any time, from your account. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund part periods.
- If we get something badly wrong, tell us. We would rather sort it out than hide behind this section.
Nothing above affects your statutory rights. Consumers in the EU and UK normally have fourteen days to cancel a distance purchase, which is why our own no questions window is set to the same fourteen days rather than anything shorter. For digital content delivered immediately that right can be waived, and where it applies we will ask you to agree to immediate delivery and to acknowledge the waiver at checkout, before you pay rather than after.
10. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, or reverse engineer the service, do not use it to harass anyone, and do not resell reports as your own. We can suspend or close accounts that do.
11. Availability, limits, and liability
Osceo is early stage software provided on an as is basis. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, and we do not guarantee that every measurement will be accurate for every body and every photograph. Values are derived from two dimensional photographs and are affected by camera angle, lens distortion, clothing, and how you happened to be standing.
Osceo is an informational and educational tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and it is not a substitute for assessment by a doctor, physiotherapist, or other qualified professional. Nothing in a report is a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and no result should be read as telling you that anything is wrong with you.
About the suggested exercises. A full report includes exercises chosen automatically from your measurements. They are general guidance of the kind widely published for the pattern the numbers describe. They are not a personalised medical or physiotherapy programme, they have not been prescribed for you by a qualified person, and nobody has assessed you. The software cannot see pain, injury, surgery, pregnancy, a diagnosed condition, or anything else about you that does not appear in four photographs, and it does not know what else you are doing.
Use your judgement, and stop immediately if anything causes pain, dizziness, numbness, or symptoms you did not have before. If you have an injury, a diagnosed condition affecting your spine, joints, or muscles, or you are pregnant or recently postnatal, take your measurements to a qualified professional and follow their advice instead of ours. If a result concerns you, or you have pain, speak to a qualified professional, and never delay seeking care because of something Osceo told you.
You take part in any exercise at your own risk, and you are responsible for deciding whether it is appropriate for you. This does not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, which cannot be limited by law and is not limited here.
Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before a claim arises. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in this section.
12. Ending things
You can close your account at any time, and doing so deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
13. Changes to these terms
We will post any changes here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email you before it takes effect.
14. Governing law
Osceo is not yet registered as a business in any country. We will publish the governing law and the competent courts here before accounts open and before any payment is taken. Until then no governing law is asserted, and the consumer protections available to you where you live continue to apply in full.
